FIRST ANNUAL Southwest Baha'i Studies Conference

“EXPLORING OUR INNATE CREATIVITY”

 


Artists and Scholars of all persuasions are strongly encouraged to participate in this mind and spirit expanding experience. Share in the educational visions of Hand of the Cause of God Shu’á’u’lláh ?lá’í, Hand of the Cause of God William Sears, and his beloved wife, Marguerite, as Desert Rose Bahá’í School helps us prepare for the needs of the future society.  Uplift your spirit with dawn and evening prayers at the William Sears Pavilion, visit Marguerite Sears resting place, and explore the Alá’í Library.

 

Focus Topics:

  • The major theme “Exploring your Innate Creativity” or topics of general interest.
  • Preference given to the application of Bahá’í principles, or to artistic presentation designed to inspire and cause reflection.
  • Individual presenter will be given either a 30 or 45 minute time slot, including Q&A.

  • Deadline for submissions: Tuesday, September 15, 2009.  (Only one abstract per person will be considered).
  • Please indicate any required aids needed, i.e., Projector (Power Point/Overhead) Whiteboard.



Group/Panel Presentations or Session Organizers: Those desiring to organize a session of like papers/subjects for presentation and discussion should submit a description of the session along with individual abstracts of participating papers.  Please indicate whether presentations submitted by others could be made a part of the general session.  The total time for any session is limited to 90 minutes.

 

 


Event Information:

 

The $195 Registration Fee includes 8 meals & 3 nights’ dorm lodging [housing upgrade available] per person if postmarked by Monday, November 9, 2009.  Late Registration is $220.  A minimum deposit of $50 per person is required to hold a registration with the balance due upon arrival.  A cancellation received on or before Tuesday, November 17, 2009 will receive a refund less $25 handling fee.  No refund after this date.
