Reflections on the Rose
Presented by Dr. Tim Anglin, United Kingdom
Saturday, 26 June 2010
9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Explore the symbolism of the rose throughout religious history as well as conceptual thought about the birth nature of the human and its developing relatiionship with God in this intriguing program of meditation and  prayer.

Dr Tim Anglin is a General Practitioner in the UK. heading his own clinic in partnership with his wife, Gowrie, who is also a  GP.  They both became Baha'is over 9 years ago.. Both are study circle tutors and members of the first A cluster in Europe. Dr.Anglin has always been interested in spiritual matters, and is well versed in the history of religion. He  has given several classes on Hinduism and Buddhism at Summer Schools in England and Europe. When invited to give a course at Desert Rose Institute, because the Rose figures so predominately in the life of the Institute, he thought that using the Rose as the subject of his presentation, and citing it's symbolism throughout  human history, would give valuable insights into the importance of this beautiful flower. Interestingly, according to a recent survey, the Rose is apparently the favourite flower of over 85 percent of Americans. It also happens to be the national flower of England. The Rose has always been a universal symbol of Love, and is widely referred to in all religious scriptures...

‘The wilderness and the parched land shall be glad; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose. It shall blossom abundantly, and rejoice, even with joy and singing; the glory of Lebanon shall be given unto it, the excellency of Carmel and Sharon; they shall see the glory of the LORD, the excellency of our God.’

Nev'im (Prophets), Yeshayahu (Isaiah) – The Old Testament.
